Tip, use 80 grit for sanding resin, removes it much faster and doesn't clog up nearly as bad.

The stairs look fantastic! One tip to keep from having to sand away so much epoxy after it hardens is to use an old credit card or small squeegee to scrape away the epoxy while it’s still wet. What’s remaining will easily sand off with one or two passes.

Im confused on the hole size. If you are using 1/2 in pipe, why cut a 7/8 in hole. Isn't that almost twice the size?

I think your parts list is wrong. You show an 1"x8" nipple. I believe that should be 3/4"...at least it looks like that's what you're using.

Jokes aside you shouldn't make kids toys out of silicone. It's a literal construction adhesive, also used to lubricate things like car parts comments used to make caulking. Almost every form of silicone it would be a terrible thing to let a child play with. They do make specific food great silicone though.

This is how you get major leaks. Have to use a rubber pan liner and staple & glue down. Then glue down your drain & caulk the weeping seals. Then you can lay down your mortar bed and slope it to your drain. In about 2 years. Your down stairs ceiling will be soaked 😅
